Naïma El Mehdi

Ph. D. in Molecular Chemistry
Researcher

Dr. Naïma El Mehdi, Ph.D. in Chemistry and Molecular Physicochemistry, has been a researcher at CÉPROCQ since 2002. She has extensive experience in both academic and applied research and leads high-impact multidisciplinary projects focused on the valorization of marine, plant, and lignocellulosic biomasses for the development of innovative, value-added bioproducts. Her areas of expertise include eco-extraction (supercritical fluids, microwaves, ultrasounds), catalytic hydrogenation, as well as separation and purification techniques (liquid-liquid extraction, chromatography). She also works on the formulation of active compounds such as cannabinoids, astaxanthin, and bioactive substances derived from fungi.

Deeply committed to training the next generation of scientists, Dr. El Mehdi supervises postdoctoral fellows, master’s students, and college-level (DEC) students from Collège de Maisonneuve, introducing them to applied research and actively contributing to the development of their skills, with the goal of strengthening their autonomy in the scientific field.
