Green catalysis

Green chemistry is an approach that encompasses the development and design of chemical products and processes that focus on reducing waste, conserving energy, and replacing hazardous substances to minimize negative impacts on the environment.

One of the most effective ways to implement green chemistry is through the application of green catalysis, as it can:

  • Decrease energy consumption
  • Minimize separation and concentration steps
  • Reduce the number of reagents used

The development of the green catalysis research axis on a pilot scale will fill a gap in the innovation system since very few facilities are available for this purpose. CÉPROCQ has both the expertise and the facilities to apply green catalysis to a variety of uses.

The development of this line of research will also reinforce the Industrial Research Chair in agroforestry extractives of CÉPROCQ, present in several colleges, since it aims to develop, among other things, applications of green catalysis for this type of biomass.
